Dogs and bikes

Dogs

Dogs can travel free on Metro.

For reasons of health and safety it's advisable not to take your dog on to the escalator.  Please use the lift or stairs instead.

Please ensure your dog is kept on a leash and is under control at all times.

Bikes

Folding bikes are the only type of bike allowed on Metro but they must be fully folded whilst on Metro property.

Guidance on the carriage of folding bikes has been set out by the Nexus Health, Safety and Environment department. In summary, the guidance is as follows:

1.  Folding bikes that do not need to be placed in a bag

Bikes that fold so that the handlebars and pedals do not stick out and risk causing injury to Metro passengers. The folding system also needs to enclose the chain so that other Metro passengers are not put at risk of getting chain oil on their clothing.

2.  Folding bikes that should be carried in a bag whilst on Metro

Even when fully folded, the handlebars and/or pedals stick out and could cause injury. The chain may not be enclosed and there could be a risk of oil getting on passengers' clothing.

We do not specify the type of bag to be used. However, bags should be robust enough to prevent handlebars and pedals from causing injury. Bags with carrying handles incorporated would also be recommended to aid ease of manoeuvring.
